How to Install Windows 7 - Step by Step with Screenshots for Beginners


In this tutorial, you will learn how to Clean install Windows 7 on PC or Laptop.


Before you begin


Check List
  • Windows 7 bootable  CD/DVD
  • If you don't have Windows 7 disk images (ISO file), 
  • You can download Windows 7 from here (windows Official site)

 

1. Enter your computer's BIOS: Turn on your PC, put the CD/DVD in CD Rom or plug a Flash drive in USB port and restart, When the BIOS screen appears or you are prompted to do so, press F1, Del, Esc, F2, F10, or F9 ( key depending on Motherboard) to enter the BIOS. the key to enter the BIOS is usually shown on the screen by default.

2. Boot option configuration: Find the tab named Boot and click it. Set the first two boot device sequence as First CD/DVD or Removable Devices, Second should be Hard Drive, leave the other option as it is. Press F10, you will ask to confirm (Y/N), press 'Y' and enter.



3. Entering Setup: There will come up with an option to boot from cd, ("press any key to boot from CD or DVD"), press any key from a keyboard (I usually press Enter or any of the Arrow Key).




4. Start Installation: Now you will get the Windows setup window and then a button "Install now", click the button and proceed to next step.






5. Licence agreement: Microsoft windows ask you to read and accept the Microsoft software license terms. check the box and click the next button.




6. Custom Installation: In this step, you will ask to select an Installation type, Upgrade or Custom(advanced). Right now we are installing a clean version, Choose Custom(advanced).




7. Hard Drive partition: In this step, we will do partitioning of the hard drive, in this process, we will allocate space/ partition to a hard drive. click on Drive options (advanced) for advanced options.




  If you want to create more than one drive, simply click on a drive and then click on a new option. Put the desire drive size in MB. By following the same you can create up to 3 drive. now choose your system drive where you want to install the windows, then click Next. 



Note: Now windows start installing the file. During this process system restart/reboot automatically several time. After every restart/reboot you will get "press any key to boot from CD or DVD" option, but don't press any key, otherwise the entire process will again start from step 1.


8. User Setting: Now when your file installed, a user setting screen will appear, just add your desired name and password and proceed to next.



9. Product activation: In this step, windows ask you to put product key/ activation key. If you purchased your product then you will find the key back of the CD/DVD cover. add the key and press Next.




10. Windows Update: In this step, you have to choose protection type. the recommended setting is the best option to choose




11. Time zone: Choose your time zone and location, if require update date and time also, and wait for a moment.




10. Congratulations: You will successfully install Windows 7 operating system on you PC/Laptop.
