AMD Launches Embedded Radeon E9170 Polaris GPUs with 4K Support and up to 3X Performance-Per-Watt for Low-Power Embedded Applications
AMD launches its E9170 Redon Series of Embedded graphics processing unit. This is the first "Polaris" processor architecture based AMD Embedded discrete GPU which is available in MCM (Multi-chip module) format with integrated memory (2GB/4GB). This GPUs are designed for the low power (sub-40W) custom design machine, which can support up to five 4K monitors. AMD targets a growing number of markets, like digital casino games, medical displays, retail and digital signage, and industrial systems etc.
This Polaris GPUs are designed to provide up to 3X the performance-per-watt (offering sub-40W TDP in a small package) over previous generations of AMD Embedded GPUs by leverages an optimized 14nm FinFET manufacturing process.
Colin Cureton, director of product management, AMD Enterprise Solutions. Said “Developers are continuing to push the boundaries on what’s possible for embedded systems, demanding more performance, more features, and more design options, all while significantly reducing power consumption. At the GPU level, it is critical to provide versatile solutions that do not compromise on graphics performance or 4K multi-display capabilities,”
As announced by AMD The AMD Embedded Radeon E9170 series GPU with PCI Ex and MXM module configuration will be available in October 2017, and with MCM module configuration will be available by November 2017.
