LTS Release of Linux Kernel | Get 6 Years Support

As Android and ARM devices are based on Linux, instead of two years of  Linux Kernel Long Term Support (LTS) release will now be supported for 6 years.

This announcement was made by Google’s Iliyan Malchev during Linaro Connect 2017 presentation. During discussing the changes being brought to Android update cycle with Project Treble,
He said: “Greg Kroah-Hartman has given me permission to announce this here: He will extend LTS to six years, starting with kernel 4.4.”
Greg Kroah-Harman is the current Linux kernel maintainer for the LTS releases. He approved and a tweet saying, “this is going to be fun”:

After this announcement, Android devices will get most benefits than other ARM devices. Google support window does not fit with the current Linux kernel lifecycle as two years of support is not enough.

There are two type of Kernel releases,

One Regular release, which arrives at an every 8-10 week, this means that Linux Kernel must be updated every 10 weeks, devices which running.

Second is LTS Kernel release, it is very hard to upgrade your devices every 10 weeks, here an LTS release comes with 2 yes of support and provides security and bug fixes.
