Android P (Android 9.0) Developer Preview will Release Early This Year

“Android P Developer Preview 1 is targeting a mid-month release.” Tweeted recently by Evan Blass known as renowned leaker (Mobile reporter).

Starting with Nougat in 2016, then Oreo in 2017, Google has the habit of releasing early developer previews for Android in early Spring, and continuing this habit, we would expect that Google is already starting work on the next major version of Android and released developer previews for the next version of Android early in the year.
As per the report, a new tag has been found in the Android Open Source Project called “master-p”, which indicates next version is on the way, presumably Android 9.0 or Android P.
As per commits, we can say Google worked on and testing Android P on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. The first Line, titled “master is now P”, was just merged into the master branch tonight. In the changes made to the version_defaults.mk file, here the new platform code name and version we can see.

If you compared to Android O for the previous release, you can see how the code name is Android P. by follows Google’s new build number convention, PPR1 is platform version compared to OPR1, that indicates that commits made to the AOSP master branch will show up  in Android P (presumably Android 9.0). Considering the previous speculation of the next variant of Android to be called Android Pi.
Rumored that, security can be enhanced to prevent apps from accessing the camera or mic when they run in the background. If we talk about others rumored it can support unique display types like notches and multiple screens, as well they look forward with Google assistant integration in-app may be on the home screen
However at this point this is all just rumor, it’s unclear which schedule Google will follow for Android P, while the “target” date could always shift. The Pixel and Pixel 2 will likely be eligible devices for this developer preview.

I am little confused by seeing this codes, and I hope this will not Android Oreo maintenance release, Ie. Android 8.1 like Nougat MR1(7.1).
